Yesterday was pretty low key, just a wander down to the East Village Cheese Shop (how can you not love discount cheese??), and some Christmas shopping at funky stores in the area. I always enjoy popping in to Sustainable NYC, they have such fun recycled gift ideas.
We also checked out the Union Square Christmas Market. Lots of cool gadgets, artwork, jewelry and food. I really love the quirky things at The Unemployed Philosophers Guild!! I’m coveting a tyvek wallet with Buddha on the front that chants when it’s opened!!! Definitely a good reminder of our india vacation!! Hee hee. But so far I’ve been good and not purchased many crazy things.
Last nights foray to the theatre was to see Idina Menzel and Anthony Rapp in “If/Then”.
Loved it!!! Not necessarily the most singable of songs but there are some great moments and great lyrics. I found it very thought provoking and real. About the different ways our lives could turn out depending on the choices we make every day. The gentleman in the row behind me and I were very emotionally committed and sniffled our way through the second act. Haha.
Idina is, of course, totally sensational. It was so great to see her on stage. She has such charisma, and dang, what a voice!!!
I’ve loved Anthony Rapp since he was in one of my favourite movies… Oh yes, I’m referring to Adventures in Babysitting!! That he went from that movie to being in one of the most talked about musicals ever, “Rent”, astonishes and delights me to this day!!
Now we’re off to Chelsea Market!!
Oh. The picture is of some of the artwork in the apartment where we’re staying. I love this girls sense of style!!
